Kalyan city has been grown rapidly most of migrated people and children are coming to Kalyan because Kalyan is the biggest railway junction more children run away from home and come to the Kalyan,Mumbai because Mumbai is the more attractive city. When they come to Mumbai they stay at the Kalyan railway station it is just 54 KM from Mumbai.

In Mumbai most of the NGO working among the street / children they have different projects and plan for them e.g. children home, day care center, night shelter, training centre, outreach etc. but in Kalyan no other NGO working specially with street /children. Before children reach to Mumbai they come to Kalyan because kalyan is biggest junction it is beginning of the Mumbai so we find most of the street children in the Kalyan.

Out of all these children most of the children run away from home. Few children are orphan because their parents are died due to sickness. Some children come from very poor family background all these children can not get food, shelter, clothes, hygiene, education and other basic needs that’s why WAY TRUE LIFE work among these children to provide their basic important needs.

Thane district ranks second in the state in respect of its Population size as per the Census of 2001. Population of the Thane district, according to the 2001 Census is 81,31,849 and is distributed over fifteen tahsils. Out of that Kalyan’s population is 7,35,000 The rate of increase of population in Thane district during the decade 1991-2001 was 54.92 percent which is probably due to large scale migration of people from outside the district in search of employment to Thane and Mumbai.
